This is a mirror image version of Marvel's Fantastic Four comic #72. The cover was drawn by the late Jack Kirby, and it has the famous 'Kirby Krackle' all over it. These iconic black dots were used to depict power, energy and the universe as a whole. Probably the best portrayal of the Silver Surfer, this painting has been lovingly produced using traditional oils.

The canvas is on a thick block frame which has been painted black on the edges, and can be hung directly onto your wall without any need for framing. This high quality original oil painting measures 11" x 14" and can be yours for only £97.

Choosing my favourite comic covers meant starting oil paintings by three of Marvel’s greatest artists; Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and Jim Steranko.

They are all works in progress but I should have them completed in the next couple of weeks, while also starting new canvases so that I have plenty to work on. I would like to have around 20 paintings in various stages of completion to get a production-line going.

I am taking too long on each painting at the moment, but will no doubt speed up with practice and as my brush skills improve. I will have to sell a few of them otherwise my house will fill up. :-)

When Neal Adams moved from DC comics to Marvel he revitalised an ailing X-Men comic with a story series lasting from #56 to #63. My 'Last X-Man' painting is taken from the cover of issue 59 first published in August 1969.
