This iconic image of John Lennon is based on the psychedelic poster that was issued in 1967, and immediately sold out within 3 hours. As a 13 year old Beatle fan I was devastated when I missed out, but I've wanted to paint the image ever since. I completed my 40 year old project when I found the poster again via Google.

I've always thought that the cover of Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother album would make an excellent pop art image, and here is my interpretation.

These silhouettes are immediately recognisable to any Beatle Fan, they are taken from the front cover of the 1965 Help album. I have been influenced by the artist Julian Opie and his iconic Blur album cover, using soft colours to give a warm feeling. This is in contrast to the Beatles original snowbound setting.
